Michaela is currently a senior at California State University Monterey Bay where she is majoring in International business and minoring in Pre-Law and will be graduating in Spring of 2017. After she graduates she intends on getting her Masters in Business Administration through CSUMB. While doing that, she also intends to take some science classes to get into Nursing.
Michaela’s playing career started at Mount Madonna School in 5th grade. As a middle schooler, her team went undefeated and won three league championships. During those years, Michaela’s dad was her coach. In her freshman year, she made the Junior Varsity team for the Hawks and in the remaining years played on the Varsity team. Her club experience includes 3 seasons for Summit followed by 3 seasons at Watsonville Starlings Volleyball Club. In senior year, she played briefly for Club IMUA.
After high school, Michaela attended the University of the Pacific in Stockton and played two years of club volleyball there. She came back to Monterey in 2013, where she attended Monterey Peninsula College for 2 years and played volleyball there. Her main position through her years as a player has been setter but she has played every position throughout her volleyball career.
Michaela helped coach for Summit 12’s girls in 2014 and last year, she was an assistant coach for Club Cruz for the 12’s girls team. She currently is the Junior Varsity coach for York School in Monterey, California. Michaela’s favorite part of coaching is that she loves watching the girls grow into amazing athletes and she is looking forward to watching these girls grow further through Club Cruz.
When Michaela isn’t at school or coaching she loves to hang out with friends and go exploring
Michaela’s motto is something that her head coach, Trevor Kreig, at Mount Madonna School said her senior year: “Always give 110% and believe.” To this day, she follows that motto and finds it pushes her to do better in everything especially with volleyball.
