Jackie grew up in Palo Alto and played high school volleyball at Palo Alto High School and currently is a student at UCSC. While in high school she helped win back to back CIF state championships in 2010 and 2011. Jackie also played club volleyball at City Beach, and in 2010 her team won the gold medal at the Junior Olympic National Tournament. After high school, Jackie joined the volleyball program at UC Santa Cruz, and was on the first UCSC women’s volleyball team to ever go to the NCAA National Tournament. Jackie in now in her fifth year at UCSC and has retired from collegiate volleyball but is focusing on improving her beach volleyball game.
Jackie has a wide range of experience playing different positions, she started out her volleyball career as a setter, and then switched to outside hitter. When she started playing on her varsity high school team, she played middle blocker and improved at that position while playing club. Even though Jackie is 5′ 9” she is proof that anyone can be a successful middle! At UC Santa Cruz she started playing middle and then switched positions to right side.
Jackie has a lot of coaching experience with camps and clinics, having coached at the UCSC Nike Volleyball camps and clinics in the Bay Area. She is inspired by her previous coaches and feels she would not be where she today without all of the hard work they have done and is ready to do the same.
When not playing volleyball Jackie is studying physics and math and with her degree she hopes to join the Peace Corps and also become a teacher. When she is not at school or playing at volleyball, she also enjoys; sailing, playing the piano, and getting “air” on her motorcycle.
